How is LipoSelection® different from traditional liposuction?

with. Delicate areas such as the face and neck can be selectively refined while larger areas can be directly targeted. LipoSelection® is also ideal for removing excess fat in areas that might need a bit of tightening as well, such as the upper arms, inner thighs, neck or abdomen. Traditional liposuction is performed in a similar manner as LipoSelection® except for the way in which the fat is removed. In LipoSelection®, the hypersonic vibrations from the cannula are able to differentiate between the fat cells and the soft tissue in the body. These ultrasound waves cause the fat to literally break apart from fibrous tissue, allowing it to be removed without disrupting the surrounding areas. Because LipoSelection® removes fat in such a gentle manner, it only requires a short recovery time and provides results that are smooth and shapely.

How is the LipoSelection® procedure performed?

Dr. Karlin begins the procedure by creating a small incision in the area to be sculpted and fills it with a special saline wetting solution. The solution is composed of a vasoconstrictor called epinephrine that shrinks blood vessels and an anesthetic called Lidocaine that numbs the area. The physician will then insert an ultrasonic probe into the incision that emits sound waves. These sound waves target, break down, and emulsify fat. The fragmented fat then combines with the solution previously inserted and is aspirated through suction and massage using a tiny cannula for minimal tissue damage.

What areas can be treated with LipoSelection®?

LipoSelection® is intended for areas prone to stubborn, accumulated fat such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, arms, love handles, back, knees, chin and neck.

How much fat can be taken out with LipoSelection®?

With any liposuction procedure, there is limitation to how much fatty tissue can safely be extracted from the body at one session in order to achieve the desired effect. This amount depends on the area or areas being treated. Most patients with a (BMI) body mass index of less than 28 can usually achieve their desired goals with one session. While Liposuction and LipoSelection® in particular is not an extreme weight loss solution, it is, however, a great solution to getting rid of stubborn overlying body fat to reveal a more contoured figure.
