How Does Restylane® Work?
Restylane® is based on a hyaluronic acid gel that closely resembles the body's own hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring substance provides volume and fullness to your skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA™ is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
During treatment, Restylane® is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, Restylane® adds volume and shape to the treated area. Restylane® now has lidocaine in it for increased comfort during treatment.
Our Restylane® sessions in Orlando are quick and easy. Because no pre-test is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately and generally takes about 30 minutes. Most people find the injections relatively painless, although they may prick a little. If you like, a topical anesthetic can be applied prior to your procedure. When enhancing the lips, a local anesthetic injection is available and often requested by the patient.
What is the Recovery Process for Restylane®?
The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness, bruising and swelling at the injection site, which typically resolve within two to three days. You may also experience some tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. If your Restylane® session involves lip treatment, your lips may become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a up to a week.
