Imagine young-looking, wrinkle-free skin.
Dr. Karlin
has found that the use of the filler Radiesse® may
be the best treatment available to date. Previously,
the only way to fill these wrinkles was with a
lifetime of bovine (cow) collagen injections, which
can cause allergic reactions; or solid implants that
can look and feel unnatural.
RADIESSE® dermal filler is an FDA-approved,
next-generation filler that is setting a new
standard for the correction of facial lines and
wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. Made of
calcium-based microspheres suspended in a
water-based gel, RADIESSE dermal filler is injected
into the skin through a simple and minimally
invasive procedure giving you immediate, visible
improvement of folds and wrinkles, and providing
long-lasting and beautiful results. In many
patients, the effects of RADIESSE treatment may last
a year or more. Offering clinically proven safety
and longevity, RADIESSE treatment stimulates the
body to produce new collagen — often with just one
or two office visits. Get beautiful results and
long-lasting wrinkle correction.
Radiesse® does not require allergy testing.
Radiesse® is an innovative product that has been
used for many years in prosthetic implants in
dental, facial and orthopedic surgery. The product
consists of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a
normal constituent of the bone and, therefore,
should not cause inflammatory or immune reactions.
This filler is now being used for filling nasolabial
folds and lines in the face to reduce signs of
aging.
Radiesse® treatments are performed in
our office and
take about 30 minutes. Radiesse® is pre-loaded in
syringes for use in treating and correcting your
facial lines and other soft tissue defects. First we
apply a little topical anesthetic. Then Radiesse® is
injected into the wrinkle through a tiny needle
placed just under your skin. Unlike other fillers,
Radiesse® dermal filler consists of tiny
microspheres in a gel carrier. The gel is absorbed
by the body first, leaving the microspheres in
place. The microspheres create collagenesis, the
process of naturally creating your own collagen,
which is what provides the long lasting results that
Radiesse® filler patients enjoy. The microspheres
gradually break down over time into calcium and
phosphate ions that are naturally absorbed by the
body.
Depending on the area treated, most corrections may
last for several months or longer. Some touch-up
treatments may be necessary. The most positive
factor in using Radiesse® is that patients don't
have to come back every three months and they still
look great! If you want to get rid of your wrinkles
with a safe, natural solution,
Radiesse® may be for you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS |
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler that
gives you both immediate and long-lasting results. It is
called a soft-tissue filler because it is used to "fill
in" wrinkles, furrows and depressions in the face that
makes us look older. Radiesse® can also be used to
reshape the nose and chin instantly improving and
refreshing your look. Radiesse® consists of tiny
particles of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) which
naturally occurs in the body, making it safe and non-allergeniceliminating
the necessity for allergy testing. Radiesse® is mainly
used in dental, bone and vocal cord reconstruction.
Radiesse® is not harmful to the body and can be broken
down by the body.
How does Radiesse® work?
Radiesse® works with your body, below the skin’s
surface. Tiny calcium-based microspheres form a
“scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your
own collagen creating a natural look that lasts.
Radiesse® does more that just temporarily fill in facial
wrinkles and fold such as the ones extending from your
nose down to the corners of your mouth (nasalabil
folds), it can restore facial volume creating a more
youthful and smoother look.
How soon can I expect results from my Radiesse®
treatment?
Radiesse® results are immediate and continue to deliver
results as it stimulates the body to produce new
collagen.
How long will the results from my Radiesse®
treatment
last?
Radiesse® treatments may last a year or more in many
patients without the need for frequent injection
sessions. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss
what your expectations are.

CONTACT US
Is Radiesse® safe?
Yes. Radiesse® is the first FDA-approved one-year filler
for facial wrinkles and folds. Hundreds of thousands of
people have experienced Radiesse® and thousands of
practitioners have been trained to provide Radiesse®
treatment. The material is identical in composition to
the mineral portion of teeth and bone, thus Radiesse® is
inherently safe. The material has been used for other
medical applications such as reconstructive surgey,
ear-nose-throat (ENT) surgery, maxillofacial surgery,
dentistry and urology. Through years of rigorous
industry research and independent research worldwide,
Radiesse® has been proven to be safe and effective.
How is a Radiesse® treatment performed?
Radiesse® is injected into the skin through a simple,
safe, quick, and minimally invasive outpatient procedure
right here in our office with the use of a local
anesthetic. Radiesse® treatments have little to no
downtime, with most patients returning to normal
activities soon after treatment.
How many Radiesse® treatments will I
need?
With Radiesse® you achieve immediate results and
therefore may only need one visit. However, each patient
is different and to ensure your satisfaction, a touch-up
treatment may be recommended.
What can I expect after the Radiesse® procedure?
Many of our patients go back to work after a Radiesse®
procedure but it is best to rest, if possible. You may
have mild swelling and bruising for up to three days.
You may take Tylenol for pain but not aspirin or
ibuprofen which may increase bruising. BACK TO TOP |

How painful is the Radiesse® procedure?
A numbing cream will be applied about 30 minutes prior
to treatment. In addition, an ice pack may also be
applied just before the Radiesse® procedure. Lidocaine
can also be injected into the area and if necessary, a
lidocaine block inside the upper lip can be used for
better pain control. Tylenol can greatly reduce the
discomfort.
What are the possible side effects of Radiesse®?
Normal, injection-related reactions such as mild
irritation, redness, swelling, itching, bruising, or
tenderness at the injection site may occur. These
conditions typically resolve on their own. Since calcium
hydroxylapatite is a normal component of bone (a
substance already familiar to the body) and does not
contain any animal products there is no allergy test
required before treatment. In rare cases a patient may
experience tiny calcium deposits that may rise to the
surface of the skin and appear like small white bumps.
If this occurs the deposits can easily be excised and
removed.
Is Radiesse® permanent?
No. Radiesse® treatment results are relatively
long-lasting, but not permanent. Over time the tiny
calcium-based microspheres gradually break down into
calcium and phosphate ions, which are safely and
naturally absorbed into your body, leaving your own
collagen in their place.
