Is a Face Lift Right for Me?
A rhytidectomy can improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles and re-draping the skin of your lower face and neck. Because a face lift can be an effective way to "turn back the clock," most of our rhytidectomy candidates in Orlando are in their 40s, 50s or 60s. How is a Face Lift Performed?
In preparation for face lift surgery, you will need to abstain from smoking one month prior to the procedure and at least one month during the recovery period to avoid complications. Also, consumption of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs prior to a rhytidectomy is not recommended. These drugs are blood thinners and may lead to increased bleeding during the surgery.
Your face lift in Orlando can be done alone or in conjunction with other facial procedures, such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, liposuction to the neck or dermabrasion around the mouth. During your face lift, Dr. Karlin removes the excess skin and fatty tissue around the jaw and neck and then pulls the skin back to reveal a tighter, more youthful appearance. You will be able to go home the same day as surgery.
What is the Recovery Process for a Face Lift?
It is common to have bruising and swelling, which usually fades within two weeks of your face lift in Orlando. After a few days you will be permitted to wear camouflage makeup if you deem necessary. Most of our rhytidectomy patients find that they can return to work in about two weeks. As with any facial surgery, healing continues for six to nine months until every little irregularity settles and sensation in the skin and ears returns to normal.
