Smooth, Younger Looking Eyes!
Your eyes are your window to your soul
because they reveal so much about you.
Unfortunately, your
eyes can also be deceiving if signs of aging have altered
them. Instead of looking rested, alert and in-charge, you
may appear to be tired, run-down, angry or unhappy due to
drooping eyelids or puffy bags under the eyes. If you feel
that your eyes make you look older, sad or fatigued, you may
want to consider the benefits of cosmetic eyelid surgery,
also called blepharoplasty.
Depending on your features and the recommendation of
Dr. Karlin, you may have cosmetic eyelid enhancement on
either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. Through a
strategically placed incision, the upper eyelid procedure
involves the removal of excess skin and fatty tissue.
Because the incision is placed in the natural contour of the
upper eyelid, it is camouflaged upon healing. Lower eyelid
procedures also involve the removal of excess skin and fat.
The incision may be made just under the lower lash line or
inside the lower lid; occasionally, the underlying muscle
can be tightened. To further minimize wrinkles and
pigmentation near the eyes, procedures such as
laser
resurfacing,
chemical peels, and
other non-ablative procedures can sometimes accompany eyelid
enhancement. Through a personal consultation,
Dr. Karlin will
decide the best approach for revitalizing your eyelids.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS |
How is
Blepharoplasty Performed?
By removing puffy bags and
correcting droopy eyelids, a
blepharoplasty can provide
a rejuvenated look. It may even help with visual
obstruction. During an
eyelid lift,
Dr. Karlin will make a tiny
incision along the natural lines of your eyelids and
remove excess fat, skin, and muscle. The skin is then
tightened to give a smooth appearance, and then closed
with fine sutures. Scars are nearly invisible as they
blend into the natural lines around your eyes. Only
minimal discomfort is typically associated with a
blepharoplasty. After your procedure, some
swelling and bruising is expected, but typically most of
it will diminish within one week. As each patient
is different, Dr. Karlin will perform a procedure tailored for you to
achieve the desired results.
How long is the recovery period?
Some bruising and swelling is
expected for the first ten days or so. Make-up can
usually cover bruising adequately by the end of the
first week. Most patients return to work in ten days
and full activities at three weeks.
