Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
Nova Cosmetic Center offers breast reduction to patients from Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Kissimmee and nearby locations.
A woman's displeasure with her breast size is not always about aesthetics. Some women not only feel that their breasts are too large, but they also experience discomfort and physical complications because of their bountiful bust line. A breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, at Nova Cosmetic Center in Orlando can transform heavy, pendulous breasts into smaller and lighter versions. This transformation can also mean the end to chest, shoulder and neck pain; skin irritations; deep bra-strap indentations; and extreme self-consciousness that afflicts overly large-breasted women. Dr. Jan V. Karlin has helped breast reduction patients throughout the Orlando region, such as residents of Altamonte Springs, Kissimmee, Apopka, Sanford and Winter Park.

Is a Breast Reduction Right for Me?
Reduction mammoplasty is recommended for women whose breasts are fully developed and who do not plan to breastfeed in the future. Our breast reduction patients in Orlando often experience neck, shoulder and back pain as a result of their large, pendulous breasts. Even if physical discomfort is not an issue, many women opt for breast reduction because they feel that their large breasts are out of proportion to the rest of their body.
How is Breast Reduction Performed?
During reduction mammoplasty, Dr. Karlin will make a series of incisions to remove excess fatty tissue and skin, reposition the nipple to a higher position and reshape the breast. Sometimes liposuction is used, as well, to remove extra fat from the underarm area.
At Nova Cosmetic Center in Orlando, the most commonly used breast reduction technique is the anchor-shaped method. Dr. Karlin creates an incision around the areola (circular pigmented area around the nipple). He then makes another cut that runs vertically from underneath the areola to the crease under the breast. The third incision extends horizontally along the natural contour of that crease. This method removes excess tissue and skin and can reduce the diameter of the areola. Also, the nipple remains attached while it is moved to a higher position. The surgery can take anywhere from two to four hours.
What is the Recovery Process for Breast Reduction?
Although it will take many months for the final result to take shape, you will immediately notice the difference in your body image after your breast reduction in Orlando. Some people will comment that you look like you have lost weight! As you adjust to your new look, self-confidence will amplify and your clothing options will be enhanced. You will be better proportioned and no longer suffer the pain and other symptoms inflicted by larger breasts. Most scars reduce to obscurity over time.
What are Orlando Breast Reduction Costs?
As with most cosmetic surgeries, the prices for an Orlando breast reduction can fluctuate widely. However, if your reduction mammoplasty is performed for health reasons rather than primarily cosmetic reasons, it may be covered by insurance. The best way to determine what Orlando breast reduction costs might be for you is to schedule a meeting with Dr. Karlin and his knowledgeable staff. We are dedicated to assisting breast reduction patients across Central Florida, welcoming women from Altamonte Springs, Kissimmee, Apopka, Sanford, Winter Park and other Orlando-area locations.
