Liposuction and Lipodissolve

Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries and, at times, one of the most generally misunderstood.  As it is a procedure that eliminates excess fat, some people think that it can be used for weight loss.  This is simply not true.  Liposuction is only a method to eliminate diet-resistant and exercise-resistant fat.  It is not a method of weight loss.  In fact, it is more of a sculpting technique to achieve a desired shape, not size.

Liposuction patients have healthy diets and exercise habits.  They also will have specific areas of the body where fat is not reduced due to their healthy habits.  This is where liposuction can help sculpt the body into a desired shape.

Liposuction is an invasive procedure and there are many techniques available.  Following a consultation, we will present your options ranging from tumescent liposuction, which is a time-tested procedure that can address small or large areas of excess fat.   Depending on your goals and body type, Lipodissolve also may be an option.

Lipodissolve is a non-invasive procedure in which a compound is injected into the area of fat causing it to metabolize.  Over a period of several weeks, we administer injections which eliminates the unwanted fat in a specific area.

Both procedures take some time to achieve results.  In the case of liposuction, there is recovery time form surgery and swelling, which can take a few weeks to subside.  However, once the swelling goes down, the results are immediately noticeable.  In the case of Lipo-dissolve, the treatment takes several weeks to perform a series, with results coming in the weeks following.

Both procedures are effective and are very satisfying for patients.  In fact, liposuction in general is one of the most satisfying cosmetic surgeries available.  If you have any questions about liposuction or Lipodissolve, please email us today.
